SYRIAN IN SOUTH CAROLINA BUSTED IN 2ND ISLAMIC TERROR PLOT

If at first you don’t succeed, the authorities will let you try, try again.

A South Carolina teenager plead guilty to gun charges after officials say he plotted to attack a US military base in hopes of joining ISIS.

“It wasn’t like some fantasy he was acting out and then was nothing to bear out,” says 16th Circuit Solicitor Kevin Brackett. “This was a legitimate and sincere desire and effort on his part to accomplish these things.”

The 16-year-old boy, whose name is not being released, lived in York County but his family is originally from Syria.

Authorities said the investigation shows he was involved in “some radical Islamic activities” and associated with people in “radical Islamic groups.” They say the teen had expressed some of these thoughts publicly for a while, but no one came forward.

Of course they didn’t. It’s the Great Green Wall of Silence of Islam.

He was sentenced to be held by the Department of Juvenile Justice and was to attend counseling.

Brackett says the teen, in court, said he had changed his ways and no long believed the ideas he held before, but Brackett is skeptical. He says the teen appeared to hold the ideas fairly closely when he was first interviewed about them.

You can guess the sequel to the story two years later.

Brackett said Abdin told the court he was troubled, that his father had died, and swore this was an isolated incident, adding he had just been confused. He promised they wouldn’t hear from him again, Brackett said.

The judge sentenced Abdin to the maximum punishment, an indeterminate sentence that would keep him behind bars until his 21st birthday, Brackett said.

Abdin served time at the juvenile justice facility in Columbia but was paroled a few months ago, Brackett said. He said he and York Police Chief Andy Robinson had strong objections to Abdin’s parole.

“Given nature of allegations and the incident here, and evidence I saw in 2015, I’m not terribly surprised. I always thought these beliefs were much more deeply rooted,” Brackett said. “I’m grateful that the federal authorities were keeping close tabs on him and able to intervene before anyone got hurt.”

And he’s back…

An 18-year-old Ladson man appeared in federal court Friday following his arrest on charges he intended to join ISIS.

Zakaryia Abdin was arrested at the Charleston International Airport Thursday night, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Lance Crick. Abdin was arrested by special agents of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force before he boarded an outbound flight.

He and his family should have been kept in Syria. It would have saved everyone a lot of trouble.

Hate crimes targeting Jews and the Growing Muslim Population

The recent arrest of a Muslim convert for the rash of anti-Semitic bomb threats throughout the United States points to an interesting gap in the FBI statistics on hate crimes.  Religiously motivated hate crimes include data on the religion of the victim, but not of the perpetrator.  This means that while we know that anti-Semitic attacks are increasing, we do not know who is perpetrating them.  Liberals have tried to claim that it was precipitated by Donald Trump’s election, but according to the FBI, the increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes began in 2014.  It would be difficult for anyone but the most delusional Democrat to blame Trump for an increase in hate crimes that began before he even declared himself a candidate (not that there is any shortage of delusional Democrats), but the question remains:  Why have the number of anti-Semitic hate crimes been increasing?  Is there another trend whose correlation matches this increase?

Yes.  There is.

Since 9/11, the number of Muslim immigrants admitted to the United States averaged approximately160,000 per year, but in 2013, the Obama administration admitted 280,276, an increase of almost 90%, and continued to do so until he left office.  At the same time Obama’s position towards Israel became increasingly hostile, culminating in his attack on Israeli settlements in the UN Security Council.  The increase in Muslim immigration and the ratcheting up of Obama’s attacks on Israel almost perfectly coincide with the increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes in the United States.

Of course, without the data on the perpetrators’ religions, this is simply speculation, but it can be resolved by having the FBI investigate the religious affiliations of those who commit religiously-inspired bias crimes.  Given that we already collect racial data on those whose crimes are motivated by race, it would seem perfectly logical to collect religious data on those who crimes are motivated by religious bias.  Since the Trump administration has recently directed the FBI to collect and report crimes committed by illegal aliens (a category that was previously left unreported) it’s clear that the president is already thinking along those lines.  Perhaps his next executive order can compel the collection of this potentially illuminating data.

Will Obama be barred from golf club for anti-Israel policies?

Members of a predominantly Jewish golf club in the Washington DC metro area are considering barring the outgoing president from joining the organization, after his administration’s refusal to veto a controversial anti-Israel resolution at the United Nations Security Council.

The Woodmont Country Club in Maryland, a posh golf club established more than a century ago by Jews barred from traditional country clubs in the area, is divided over Obama’s application, with some members lambasting him as the most anti-Israel president in history.

While some have extended a friendly welcome to President Obama and even suggested waiving the membership fees – $80,000 for entrance, plus nearly $10,000 each year in dues – others expressed outrage.

“Can you imagine how angry I would be if I had paid $80K to have to look at this guy who has done more to damage Israel than any president in American history?” a senior official at a DC Jewish organization told the New York Post.

“After the UN vote and attack on Israel, I think it probably hurts the club. If there is a club that excludes Jews, he would probably be more comfortable around those folks.”

The club’s general manager, Brian Pizzimenti, said his organization would be “honored to have” Mr. Obama as a member, a source told the Post that opposition to the president’s membership is widespread.

“In light of the votes at the UN and the Kerry speech and everything else, there’s this major uproar with having him part of the club, and a significant portion of the club has opposed offering him membership.”

The president will be able to apply to the club formally once he becomes a private citizen following President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next Friday.
