Debbie Wasserman Schultz and company’s disturbing embrace of radical Islam

Joe Kaufman//  In a push to do outreach to the local Muslim community, the Florida Democratic Party has officially recognized the American Muslim Democratic Caucus (AMDC), a group based in South Florida with members around the state. While this might look innocuous on its face, AMDC is headed by a woman, Ghazala Salam, who is the leader of a terrorist organization and has deep ties to various radical Islamic institutions.

Salam is the Community and Government Relations Director for the Florida chapter of CAIR, a group that only one year ago was labeled a terrorist organization, alongside al-Qaeda and ISIS, by the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations was established in June 1994 as part of the American Palestine Committee, a terrorist umbrella group headed by then-global head of Hamas, Mousa Abu Marzook. In 2007 and 2008, CAIR was named by the United States Justice Department a co-conspirator for two federal trials dealing with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. Since its founding, a number of CAIR representatives have served jail time and/or have been deported from the US for terrorist-related crimes.

CAIR-Florida, Salam’s chapter, reflects the same extremism as the national organization. In July 2014, CAIR-Florida co-sponsored a pro-Hamas rally in Downtown Miami, where rally goers shouted, “We are Hamas” and “Let’s go Hamas.” Following the rally, the event organizer, Sofian Abdelaziz Zakkout, wrote, “Thank God, every day we conquer the American Jews like our conquests over the Jews of Israel!” In August 2014, CAIR-Florida Executive Director Hassan Shibly  wrote, “Israel and its supporters are enemies of G-d…

Apart from CAIR, Salam is also involved with Islamic Relief, which like CAIR has been labeled a terrorist organization by the UAE government. Salam, along with her CAIR-Florida colleagues, helps coordinate a nationwide annual event run by Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) called the ‘Day of Dignity.’ IRUSA is the American affiliate of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), Salam has been representing Islamic Relief for this event since at least October 2013.

Islamic Relief’s ties to terror are well known. The Russian government has accused Islamic Relief of supporting terrorism in Chechnya. Israel has banned the group, labeling it a Hamas front and arresting the organization’s Gaza Program Manager, Ayaz Ali, in 2006, for providing assistance to Hamas. Reports show that Islamic Relief has sent millions of dollars to and received tens of thousands of dollars from groups related to al-Qaeda.

The Chairman of IRUSA is Khaled Lamada. Lamada is also the co-chairman of the Islamic Circle of North America and Muslim American Society (ICNA-MAS) national convention. ICNA has been linked to terrorist financing and has used the web to promote a number of terrorist groups, including Hamas, al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and the Taliban. MAS, like CAIR and Islamic Relief, has been named to the UAE government’s list of terrorist organizations. Lamada has used social media to advocate for such groups as the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.

Ghazala Salam is the President of AMDC. The treasurer of the group is Safiah Maryam Khan, who is also the local Office Manager for CAIR. Last month, on November 15th, Khan posted a photo of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on her Facebook page, with the caption, ‘Hezbollah chief vows to continue fight against ISIL.’ Under it, Khan wrote, “We’re all in this together.

On November 27th, a report in the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel stated about Salam and her AMDC, “The 2016 elections will be the first her group has been an officially recognized caucus of the Florida Democratic Party.” The report then offered a photo pulled from the AMDC website of Salam, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Florida Democratic Party (FDP) Chairwoman Allison Tant Richard. The photo was taken at the June 2014 Florida Democratic Party Leadership Blue Gala.

Other photos from the gala contain South Florida imam Maulana Shafayat Mohamed, who, along with former President Bill Clinton, was a speaker at the gala. Shafayat Mohamed is the imam of the Darul Uloom mosque, located in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

Shafayat Mohamed has been thrown off a number of boards in Broward County for his actions against homosexuals. In February 2005, an article written by him was published on the Darul Uloom website, entitled ‘Tsunami: Wrath of God,’ claiming that gay sex caused the 2004 Indonesian tsunami. As well, a number of al-Qaeda terrorists have spent time at Darul Uloom. “Dirty Bomber” Jose Padilla was a student of Shafayat Mohamed’s at the mosque, and now-deceased al-Qaeda Global Operations Chief Adnan el-Shukrijumah was a prayer leader there.

Ghazala Salam has gotten close to Shafayat Mohamed. A video of Salam being interviewed by him for Al-Hikmat, the media arm of Darul Uloom, was published on the mosque’s website in June. As well, Salam has been honored in the last three bi-monthly newsletters of Al-Hikmat, and she was the recipient of an award at the 2015 annual Al-Hikmat award ceremony in May. Furthermore, the founding Vice President of Salam’s AMDC, Naima Khan-Ghany, hosts a weekly show for Al-Hikmat.

The Florida Democratic Party’s embrace of Salam and Shafayat Mohamed, individuals associated with terrorism and bigotry, is alarming and dangerous. It is evidence of high level infiltration into local government, and it must not be ignored.

If the Democratic Party wishes to retain a modicum of credibility, vis a vis its claims that it promotes peace and equality, it must remove AMDC from its ranks and distance itself from the likes of Salam and Shafayat Mohamed decisively and definitively. By not doing so, the party will have chosen to side with America’s enemies, at a time when the country is under threat of terrorist attack.

If you are concerned about this and wish to speak out, you can contact the Florida Democratic Party by calling 850-222-3411 or by emailing press@fladems.com. Please be respectful in any and all communications with this organization.

Islamist Congressman Keith Ellison Headlines Group Run by Terror Lawyer

By

Last year’s annual event for Emerge-USA was a disaster, losing keynote speaker Debbie Wasserman Schultz last minute over criticism leveled against her for helping to raise money for an organization whose leadership actively supports terror-related groups and individuals targeting the U.S. and Israel. Now, Emerge is taking no chances and will be holding a banquet featuring a Congressman (and fellow traveler) who is not as shy about his Islamist support, Keith Ellison.

On Saturday, April 20, Emerge will be sponsoring a “benefit dinner” with United States Representative Keith Ellison as the featured speaker. A colorful flyer advertising the event – complete with a big picture of Ellison – is currently found on the homepage of Emerge’s official website. As stated on the flyer, the contact for the event is Rasha Mubarak, who has held the position of Central Florida Regional Field Coordinator for Emerge since October 2011.

Mubarak is a fervent Palestinian activist. In January 2009, she organized a march in Orlando to condemn Israel for waging a war against Hamas in Gaza. During the march, there were repeated chants of “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” This chant is a Hamas slogan, whose meaning is the destruction of the entire state of Israel. At another anti-Israel demonstration Mubarak organized this past November, she herself questioned Israel’s current right to exist. She stated, “Israel has a right to exist, but not as they presently do…”

Emerge’s Tampa-area Regional Field Coordinator is Laila Abdelaziz. Not unlike her counterpart Mubarak, Abdelaziz is obsessed with the Jewish state. In January 2010, during a town hall meeting for Barack Obama, she denounced Israel in a question she posed to the President. “[W]hy have we not condemned Israel and Egypt’s human rights violations against the occupied Palestinian people, and yet we continue supporting them financially with billions of dollars from our tax dollars?” she belligerently asked.

In November 2012, when Israel invaded Gaza, in order to stop Hamas from continuing to target her citizens with rockets – over 2000 rockets in less than one year – Abdelaziz tweeted, “Don’t worry ya Gaza, we’re working hard for you in Florida.”

It is not unusual for Keith Ellison – a former member of Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam – to accept a speaking engagement from a radical Muslim organization, such as Emerge. He has been a regular at events sponsored by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), two groups the U.S. Justice Department has labeled co-conspirators in the raising of millions of dollars for Hamas. He, as well, spoke at events sponsored by the Minnesota chapter of the Muslim American Society (MAS), at the same time the group was propagating material on its website calling for the murder of Jews.

Almost exactly one year previous to this upcoming April banquet, Emerge was going to hold a similar event featuring as its keynote speaker the head of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. After this author publicly called on her to cancel her speech and co-authored a piece criticizing her for involving herself with such a group, both Wasserman Schultz and U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings withdrew their participation.

Much evidence was put forward to show why no government official should allow himself/herself to be taken in by this organization. The evidence contained disturbing details about the main individual behind Emerge, Khurrum Wahid.

According to his bio found on Emerge-USA’s website, Wahid is “a founding member and current Vice-Chair” of the group. Wahid is also a South Florida criminal defense attorney and previously served as a legal advisor to Hamas-related CAIR. His list of terrorist clients include: Rafiq Abdus Sabir, who received a 25 year prison sentence for conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaeda; Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, who was given a life sentence for being a member of al-Qaeda and for plotting to assassinate President George W. Bush; and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leader Sami al-Arian, who is at present under house arrest in Northern Virginia.

Recently, Wahid represented Hafiz Muhammed Sher Ali Khan, who was convicted of funneling tens of thousands of dollars to the Pakistani Taliban for the express purpose of murdering American troops overseas. Even after the conviction, Wahid is still raising money for Khan on his law firm’s website.

None of this is strange, considering that, in 2011, Wahid himself was placed on a U.S. government terrorist watch list.

The Executive Director of Emerge and the Vice Chairman of Emerge’s Political Action Committee (PAC) is Nauman Sabit Abbasi. Both Abbasi and Wahid are involved with the Islamic Foundation of South Florida (IFSF), a radical mosque located in Sunrise, Florida. Abbasi is the President of Public Relations for IFSF. Wahid is the registered agent for the mosque’s corporation.

The Youth Director of IFSF is Abdur Rahman al-Ghani, a fan of Hizb ut-Tahrir, whose Facebook site is littered with fanatical anti-America, anti-Israel and Islamic supremacist language. Last December, he wrote on Facebook, “Zionist/Israelis are not holy people. They are demonic and the most evil on earth.” In February 2012, he wrote, “[Y]es, Allah (SWT) has Decreed that we will over-take the World in numbers…” In that same month, he posted a graphic of the CIA logo spattered in blood with a caption that read in part, “You wipe out the organization that is solely responsible for every terrorist act committed since it’s creation. You wipe out the CIA.”

According to Nauman Abbasi’s Linkedin page, the Emerge PAC has “strongly supported” Keith Ellison. The PAC has also given support to Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. While taking money from an extremist group like Emerge is of no concern to Congressman Ellison, it could very well cause Mayor Buckhorn some unease.

In February 2012, at an event to promote Emerge’s Tampa chapter, Buckhorn shared the stage with the Executive Director of CAIR-Tampa, Hassan Shibly. Shibly previously had stated that Hezbollah was “basically a resistance movement” and “absolutely not a terrorist organization.”

This was not the first event Mayor Buckhorn has had with Emerge, but it should be his last.

If it were just one individual within the group, it could be seen as a fluke, but there are too many extremists within the leadership of Emerge for Mayor Buckhorn or others to allow themselves to participate in Emerge-sponsored events or to grant the organization any degree of legitimacy. Emerge-USA is an innocuous name with what appears to be sinister motives.

For Islamists like Keith Ellison, this is of no consequence. For others, they may just be willing to sell out their values and their souls for a buck and a vote.

Obama and Islam: The Ironic War on Women

W.A. Beatty Isn’t it rather ironic that President Barack Hussein Obama and the Democrats say that Republicans are waging a war on women, while at the same time he, his administration, and Democrats embrace/support Islamic law, or sharia?

Just in time for his re-election effort, Obama has hit upon a re-election strategy by accusing Republicans of waging a “war on women” via attempts to cut off taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, among other things.  Obama and his administration accused Republicans of hating women for not wanting to see the Catholic Church hand out free birth control that is contrary to Church doctrine.  How ironic, considering Obama’s view of Islam.

Democrat efforts to frame recent Republican policies as part of a larger “war on women” took another step forward Sunday, April 8, 2012, on CNN’s State of the Union.  Democrat National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz portrayed Republicans as “turning back the clock for women.”

Wasserman-Schultz said to State of the Union host Candy Crowley, “You have Republicans that have engaged themselves for the entire Congress on trying to redefine rape as only being forceful rape, defunding Planned Parenthood and family planning programs.”

Now let’s turn our attention to what Obama and Democrats are doing at the same time that the above is going on.

No president in American history has admired Islam more than Obama, nor has he missed an opportunity to speak well of the religion.  He has made it clear from the time he first took office that he would pursue a policy of pandering to the Islamic community.  So, with Obama’s actions in mind, let’s see what the Qur’an, the basis for Islamic law, or sharia, says:

  • Men are superior to women. Qur’an 4:34: Men are the maintainers of women, with what Allah has made some of them to excel others and with what they spend out of their wealth. So the good women are obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded.
  • Men are to admonish (scourge) women. Qur’an 4:34: And (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the beds and chastise them. So if they obey you, seek not a way against them.
  • Men can have sexual relations with wives and concubines. Qur’an 23:5-6: And who restrain their sexual passions – Except in the presence of their mates or those whom their right hands possess, for such surely are not blameable.
  • Women are of inferior intelligence. Qur’an 2:282: And call to witness from among your men two witnesses; but if there are not two men, then one man and two women from among those whom you choose to be witnesses, so that if one of the two errs, the one may remind the other.
  • Women have a dress code. Qur’an 7:26: O children of Adam, We have indeed sent down to you clothing to cover your shame, and (clothing) for beauty; and clothing that guards against evil – that is the best. This is of the messages of Allah that they may be mindful. Qur’an 33:59: O Prophet, tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of believers to let down upon them their over-garments. This is more proper, so that they may be known, and not be given trouble.
  • In Islam, there is no prohibition in the use of contraception; however, the Qur’an is quite clear regarding birth control involving surgery. Qur’an 30:30: There is no altering Allah’s creation. Qur’an 40:64: … and He formed you, then made goodly your forms[.]

See also “Islamic Laws for Women” for more information.

Obama embraces the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), the terrorist group that has as its governing platform the imposition of sharia law, which would send Egyptian women into lives of degradation and oppression.  The MB looks to capture the Egyptian Parliament and, after pledging not to, is now running a candidate for president of Egypt.  This appears to be fine with Obama, as he has released $1.5 billion in foreign aid to Egypt, whose “war on women” is very real and will have lasting consequences.

Egyptian clerics said Khairat el-Shater, the MB candidate for president, pledged to them that he would introduce sharia if he is elected in May.  The imposition of sharia in Egypt will make women in that country no better than chattel, discriminated against by both law and religious custom.

In November 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton declared that the Obama administration would work with ascendant Islamist parties of the Muslim world.  While she reached out to the religious-rooted parties expected to gain power in Egypt, Clinton said nothing about changing U.S. policies toward Hezb’allah and Hamas.

After decades of partnering with dictators throughout the region, Clinton’s message was that the U.S. would approach the new political landscape with an open mind and the understanding that long-term support for democracy trumps any short-term advantages through alliances with authoritarian regimes.

While Obama and Democrats are doing these things, they are supporting a terrorist group that has as its governing platform the imposition of sharia, which would send Egyptian women into lives of “having the clock turned back.”  Is this the view of society that Obama has for women if re-elected?  All we have to go on are his actions since his election in 2008.

So who is really waging war on women?

One thing that makes the “war on women” argument even more difficult for Obama is that he and  Democrats demand to be judged on their intentions regardless of the actual outcomes caused by their policies.  Where is the MSM regarding the “war on women” and Obama’s and Democrats’ actions?   Oh, yeah, I forgot (not really).  The MSM is just a tool of Obama and Democrats.
